Most factory loaded name-brand brass cased ammo can be used. Do not use Steel Cased, Aluminum Cased, or reloads.

• For our 9mm models, use standard grain (bullet weight): 115 and 124, and 147 in Gen 2.
• For our .380 ammo, standard grain (bullet weight): 90 or 95 grain.

The SCCY CPX and DVG RDR pistols use a standard Shield footprint. This will accommodate any optic that has a Shield RMS or Shield RMSc footprint.

The CPX-1 has an external ambidextrous safety and the CPX-2 does not.

SCCY does not make holsters nor do we have any relationships with any holster manufacturers. Many of our customers, however, are interested in holsters that fit our guns. We recommend that any holster inquiries be directed to the manufacturers who advertise SCCY compatible products, some of which are listed below:

On a Gen 1, the grip panels are covered by rows of parallel grooves. On a Gen 2, the grip panels have a stippled, textured pattern and the back strap includes a series of slots that are part of the recoil system. The Gen 3 grip has a reduced grip circumference, no finger grooves, and a section of picatinny rail on the front. The slide has a flattened profile and includes the Roebuck Quad-Lock barrel locking system. The trigger is aluminum and has been clocked back 6 degrees to reduce trigger reach and trigger travel. The Gen 3 also has a smaller safety selector on the CPX-1. 

• Assume every firearm is loaded
• Keep your finger off the trigger and outside the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot.
• Never point the firearm at anything you do not intend to shoot.
• Always be sure of your target and what is beyond it. A bullet can travel several miles before stopping.
• Always install the child resistant lock on the firearm when not in use.
• Never store your firearm in the loaded condition.
• Always store ammunition in a separate place from where the firearm is being stored.
• Always store the firearm and key(s) out of reach from children.
• Remember, firearm safety is the responsibility of the person handling the firearm.

Yes, all of our firearms feature the same trigger guard. Armalaser will fit CPX-1, CPX-2, CPX-3, CPX-4, and DVG-1 (including RD models).

No. RD model pistols were sold with the red dot mounted on them. RDR pistols are optics ready and milled for a Shield RMS or RMSc footprint. SCCY does not sell optics separately.

Possible causes and remedies:

• Magazine spring may be fatigued
  • Replace magazine
    • Send out a new magazine
  • Replace magazine spring (compare current spring with another magazine spring.)
    • Send out new magazine
• Magazine feed lips are bent
  • Replace magazine
    • Send out new magazine
• Current ammunition will not feed
  • Try an alternative ammunition
    • (bullet profile: hollow point, round nose, polymer tipped)

Possible causes and remedies:

• Strong hand thumb riding under slide-lock lever. The gun moves substantially in recoil and it could be bumped up buy the shooters hand (Primarily right-handed shooters)
  • Try firing the gun one handed, ensuring the thumb is not interfering with the slide lock lever.
    • This can be done with the opposite hand to ensure the grip has changed
• Broken or weak slide lock lever spring
  • Remove the slide and manipulate the slide lock lever to check for spring tension. The lever should be pulled down after it’s manipulated up. It should not stick or fall back into place.
    • Send gun in for armorer service if broken or weak

Possible causes and remedies:

• Magazine tube (body) may be dirty causing the follower to become stuck
  • Disassemble magazine. Brush and clean the magazine tube. Wipe away carbon from the follower and wipe the spring with an oily rag. DO NOT USE EXCESS OIL INSIDE THE MAGAZINE TUBE, OR ONFOLLOWER OR SPRING
• Strong hand thumb is resting on and interfering with slide lock lever operation (Right-Handed Shooters)
  • Note: This a common problem with a right-handed shooter with a high, thumbs-forward grip.
  • Modify the grip so the strong hand thumb is away from both the frame and the slide when firing.
    • Load ONE ROUND and fire the gun one handed being sure to not interfere with the slide lock lever.
• Support hand is pressed against the slide lock lever (This would be the right-handed shooters LEFT hand)
  • Note: This can happen when a shooter hands are large or thick. Modify the grip so as to lower the support hand (left) to be away from the slide lock lever.
  • Modify the grip so the support hand is away from the slide lock lever when firing.
    • Load ONE ROUND into a magazine and fire with the modified grip
• Magazine spring is fatigued and weak
  • Note: This can happen over time from loading and unloading
  • Insert an unloaded/empty magazine and attempt to lock the slide open without influencing the slide lock lever

Possible causes and remedies:

• Caused by excessive wear between trigger cam and the trigger
  • Return to SCCY Industries for trigger replacement service

Possible cause and remedies:

• Be sure slide is locked fully to the rear and attempt again
  • Return to SCCY Industries for service

Return your pistol to SCCY Industries for service

Possible cause and remedies:

• Rounds can bind up or not stack properly when filling the magazine.
  • Load several rounds into the magazine (5 or 6).
  • Tap the magazine base vigorously on the palm of your hand to seat the rounds in the magazine.
  • Continue loading rounds and tapping the base after each round added.
• Weak hand/finger strength can be the cause.
  • Attempt using an aftermarket magazine loading aid.

Possible causes are a broken firing pin or a bad primer has been used in the ammunition

• Eject the unfired round and attempt to fire the next round in the magazine.
  • If rounds continue to not fire, remove the magazine and clear the chamber so you your firearm is unloaded and try the next step
• With your firearm unloaded and using an eraser tipped pencil, put the slide forward and tip the muzzle up and let the pencil fall into the barrel, against the breech face with the eraser end down.
  • Press the trigger and see if the pencil flies up out of the barrel. (DVG models must be cocked first)
  • If the pencil comes up and out, your firing pin is good and you should try another ammunition type.
  • If the pencil does not bounce out of the barrel, it’s likely that you have a broken firing pin and the PISTOL SHOULD BE RETURNED TO SCCY Industries FOR SERVICE.

The CPX-1 and CPX-2 Gen 3 firearms now feature an under-barrel Picatinny rail mount for adding accessories such as flashlights or laser pointers. The Picatinny rail utilizes the MIL-STD-1913 standard – please see the below dimensions for more information.
